Part 9
From the examination of facts hitherto ignored or misunderstood, it is surely self-evident already that Francis Bacon was not only a "Mystery-child" but a "Mystery youth and man" also and that much of the "Mystery" centred in a prime fact of the era - that he was the concealed son of Queen Elizabeth who posed before the world as "The Virgin Queen." [It has been noted that this title to Elizabeth I., was only due to her involvement in the Viginia Company, then under construction.] With the acceptance of this truth the prime enigmas of the Elizabethan Age are on the way to solution. They neet not be shelved as impossible problems.
Nothing has appeared more inexplicable to the historians than the real relations that subsisted between the Queen and Essex, and the part played by Francis Bacon which ultimately culminated in a triangle of tragedy. In very truth the history of the Court through the long years revolved round the Queen and her secret husband, Dudley, and then around the Queen and her two concealed sons, becomes still more evidential with the closing years of Elizabeth's reign.
Upon what other men did she bestow her personal favours? Her riches? Her extraordinary honours? Her love? On no one!
